Here are several tools you can use to help protect your computer against spyware and other unwanted software.
Microsoft Security Essentials (Windows XP or newer) —
If you are running Windows XP or newer, we would highly recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. It is a free download for users of Windows XP or newer.
AVG Free (Windows XP or newer) —
If you are running Windows XP or newer, AVG has a free Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware software package available on their website.
If you are looking for a quick way to check your PC for viruses or spyware, you can use the web browser based OneCare scanner that Microsoft has made available.
Windows Live OneCare (Windows XP or newer) —
If you are running Windows 2000 or newer, Microsoft has a free online scanner to check your PC for viruses and spyware.
