NewsFactor - Google, the company that seems intent on becoming a force in anything that uses electrons, said Tuesday that it expects to expand its Web TV service across the globe. CEO Eric Schmidt said at the big IFA consumer electronics show now in Berlin that he expects other TV set manufacturers to join Sony, which is scheduled to launch Web TV in the U.S. beginning this fall. Samsung has recently said it is considering releasing TV sets with the Google software.

PC World - Intuit announced the release of QuickBooks 2011 for the Mac Tuesday, targeting small businesses that want to spend less time on bookkeeping and more time on making money. New features in the latest version of the software include multi-user support, the ability to set user permissions, improved handling of everyday tasks like tracking vehicle mileage and better integration with Apple's spreadsheet program, Numbers.

Digital Trends - Sony has quietly released a firmware update to the PlayStation 3 that, according to initial reports, blocks the now-infamous PSJailbreak exploit that enabled users to copy games to local storage devices and run home-brew applications on their game consoles.
